The Wait!

Why is it so hard to wait?? I guess because we live in a world where everything is microwaved so we can get it fast and easy! I started this company two and a half years ago and I guess I thought that I would be at the Grammys by now and I know that's not realistic but "two years" I feel that I should be further than this. Someone once told me that when you start a company you should give it at least 3yrs before you expect to see any real profit. I still believe that God is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ever ask or think and I know that he has not forgotten about me. So I'll keep waiting until my time comes!

Tour

Well,
My artist Rodney just left for his European tour with Queen Ester Marrow and The Harlem Gospel Singers and everything worked out with his label, they are not going to rush the album at all but have agreed to take their time and do it right. He even recorded a couple of tracks before he left but when he returns at the end of January it will be full speed ahead with recording.

Monkey Wrench!

Well a monkey wrench has been thrown in the plans for my artist Rodney to start recording his debut album. I'm praying and believing that God will work it out for our good. He's supposed to start recording Wednesday, November 4th but it may get pushed back. But delayed does not mean denied it will happen and I'll tell you this I would rather it be delayed and done right than rushed and it be a mess. Your debut album is the most important one for any artist sometimes in this business you only get one shot to make a lasting impression. So this debut must be the best ever!

Excitement!

All system are a go for my artist Rodney to start recording his debut album. He should be in the studio starting the 1st week in November. His record label Jireh Records (http://www.jirehrecords.com) is pursuing an aggressive recording schedule and has scheduled the album's release in March 2010. By the way they are looking for a female gospel artist to sign so let me know if you know anyone or if you yourself are interested.

Change

Haven't been on here in a while but alot has changed since we last spoke. I no longer manage my artist Nisha I found out some disturbing things about her and I lost all my trust. If there is no trust between a manager and his artist then there is no relationship personally or professionally. I've also decided that I am going to manage only Christian/Gospel artists as this is what the will of God is for my life. My first artist is Rodney Tremayne who is truly an anointed and talented vocalist he lives in Winston-Salem, N.C. and is signed to Jireh Records which has just come under the umbrella of Universal Music Group. He is about to go on tour with Queen Ester Marrow and The Harlem Gospel Singers. God is doing a new thing in my life and I am grateful for his blessing.

Farewell Michael

REST IN PEACE MICHAEL!! I know that every person must experience the death of our earthly vessel but I really need to come to grips with the fact that someone so large and influential has passed on. I was listening to the radio yesterday and they played the song that was suppossed to be his comeback song with Akon and it was truly a good song. I do wish that the paparazzi would let his family grieve their loved one. I beleived in Michael even when the world was saying that he was a child molester I NEVER BELEIVED IT FOR ONE MINUTE I wonder if some of them feel guilty now that he is gone and I hope those people that lied on him and said he molested their child are really feeling terrible. But you know what they say "what goes around comes around", what you do to others will come back on you GOOD OR BAD! That is why we are to treat everyone right.

Marketing Meeting

So we had the marketing meeting with Nisha's label and I must admit that I was a little disappointed. I really thought that they would put more of an effort into the marketing of the album. It is a really good album and I know that people will love it but if it's not marketed correctly and people don't know it's available how will it sell. I didn't go in there with really high expectations because I knew they (the label) weren't Sony or Arista but I really am concerned about if they are going to do what they say they will and if it will be enough.

Geffen Records

I got an email from Geffen Records asking me to send my artist Nisha's press kit to them and that they were very interested in her. This is the best news yet so I'll keep you posted.

Twitter

So I finally broke down and joined Twitter. At first I must admit I didn't know what it was about but now I know a little bit more. All that's to it is you read posts/messages that other people write and they can read yours. You follow them so whenever they write something you will get pinged and vice versa. I actually like it!

Rodney Tremayne performing with The Harlem Gospel Singers

Is Change Really Good

So we got an email from the record label saying that our old marketing rep. was leaving and we now have a new rep. Now I've always heard that change was good but is it really? Our old rep. knew us and we had a great relationship with her but will we with this new guy?? Apparently he use to be a recording artist and should know how to deal with Nisha (my artist) but what does that mean. Our old rep. was with us from the beginning and was very vested in seeing Nisha succed so I hope this new guy will carry the torch. I'll certainly let you know! So is change really good, I'll get back to you on that.

Almost There

So we just heard from my artist Nisha's record label that we are entering into the marketing phase for her album that means that it will be released really soon. First all the songs have to be approved by the label; then they have to approve the artwork and we do too and then the marketing phase is the last thing that happens. This is where we (we means mostly the label) all decide what single will be released and then we talk about who we should market it to it's all very exciting. First the album is going to be only available through the label website and then it will be in stores and CD Now, CD Baby, iTunes, etc. There is a lot of work that goes into releasing an album but when it finally happens it would have all been worth the wait!

Nisha's Performance

I think I told you all that the DC Black Gay Pride Committee asked that my artist Nisha perform at this years concert along side Crystal Waters and Amerie. Well, I'm happy to report that she did perform and did a great job but her set was cut short due to the fact the concert didn't get started until 2 hours after it was scheduled. They told me that she would get 20mins but it turned out to be only about 10mins. Amerie didn't show up and we didn't get the chance to meet Crystal. I'm not ignorant enough to think that every show is going to go off without incident every single time but I pray that problems are few and far between.

The Grind

You know when I first decided to get into the music industry I knew it wasn't going to be easy. I had made up my mind that I was all in and that I would work hard to achieve success. I thought it would be somewhat easier for me because I lived in the DC area and with all this musical talent here I would definitely get my artists into the clubs. BOY WAS I WRONG! I never would have thought that it would be so hard to get into the clubs here. I could see if my artists didn't have talent and weren't exceptional performers but that isn't the case. You would think that the clubs here would support local artists but all they think about is money. I don't blame them for wanting to make money every business needs to make a profit to survive but all they are concerned about is "how many people can you draw" and most of these clubs already have a very large clientel who frequent every week anyway why not feature a new artist for your customers? Give them some new fresh music but I guess that's too much to ask.

Nisha's Next Performance

Nisha will be performing at the 2009 Black Gay Pride Festival on Sunday, May 24th. The show starts at 1:00pm and will go until 6:00pm. We don't know what time she will go on because they haven't finalized the schedule. The thing that's exciting about this performance is that she will share the stage with Crystal Waters and Amerie who are both platinum selling artists!

2009 Unicity Festival

Hey all,

I wanted to tell you about the performance that my artist Nisha gave at the 2009 Unicity Festival this past Saturday. She really rocked the house she was on the so called "Celebrity Stage", which I don't know why they called it that because there were no celebrities there but it wasn't until she was into her second song when it seemed that most of the people began to make their way to the stage to see her. Before, with the other performers there were only about 5 people at the stage. So it felt good to know that people are interested in her music and the reaction from them after every song was amazing they were screaming and shouting. There was a radio station there called OC104 (103.9 FM) from Ocean City and they liked her so much they did an on the spot interview with her on the air.

Sunday, January 4, 2009

Hello everyone, my name is Eric Stancil and I own an artist management agency called MVP ARTIST MANAGEMENT. I would like to introduce a very talented female artist that I managed named Nisha. She is an vert talented R&B/Jazz artist who was signed to an independent record label back in June of last year. She has finished recording her debut album titled "The Metamorphosis" that will be released next month. Please take a minute to listen to her music by clicking "play" on the apple at the bottom of my blog page. Please leave feedback if you would.

PS - If you are in the DC area on February 4th, please stop by Bus Boys & Poets where she will be performing starting at 9:00pm in the Langston Room. The cover is $10.00.
